Google Earth (GE) and Google Maps are very different products coming literally from different corners of the world. GE is a standalone application into which you can import data by pointing at a URL which returns a KML file. It's relatively straight forward - there is plenty of information on KML on the net, but you need to add code to Zenoss to translate internal information into KML. The Google Map portlet code may be a good guide as it will most likely tell you on where to find the Zenoss internal data, but what you return to teh caller is very differnt and it won't show inside the browser. What you would have on the dashboard is a simple link 'Show in Google Earth' which returns the KML file (the web browser normally starts GE for you if the file association is set up correctly).
