Try running zenperfsnmp on the device from the shell as the zenoss  
user to see any debugging information that could shed light on this:

zenperfsnmp run -v 10 --device=nameOfAsaDevice

Ideally you should see it get the sysUpTime data point and write it to  
an RRD file.
