The quick first try is to enable SNMP on your windows and network gear and set the community string and make sure the switches and windows allow snmp queries from the zenoss machine.  then add your devices ensuring you set the comunity string in the zproperties tab. 

The manual is actually quite informational so it's also a good place to start.
