Hi;

Just installed Zenoss Enterprise 2.1.3 from the .iso on a brand-new Dell PE 2950. I blindly accepted all the defaults during the install. All seems OK with the OS and Zenoss is running OK, but I'm trying to follow the first few steps in the Quick Start guide and not much is working. I know I have to read the 200+ page manual, but if we could fix a couple of annoyances I will feel much better.

We purchased the smallest Edu package and I only get 2 support incidents per month, so I'm trying to be miserly.

In the event tab of /Devices /Server /Linux /localhost, we are getting two errors that might be related:

127.0.0.1 sendto error Host localhost and episd32.episd.org are both using ip 127.0.0.1 (red in color) count = 19

and
snmp agent down on device localhost (yellow in color) count = 1

Here is the contents of /etc/hosts :
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1               episd32.episd.org episd32 localhost.localdomain localhost

TIA from a newbie that is ignorant but not a complete idiot and short on time ( I manage a network of ~ 4000 cisco devices that spans 100 sites).

Steve
